Samuel Carver 2

CARVER, Samuel 2 (1781-1837) — London

Engraver, map engraver. Referred to specifically as a map engraver on his widow’s death certificate.

Born 16 Mar 1781 and baptised 20 Jun 1781 at Christchurch, Spitalfields, the son of Thomas Carver (1759?-1829) of Phoenix Street and his wife Mary Allaway, who had married the previous year. A nephew of Samuel Carver 1 above. He married Sarah Colwell (d.1849), with whom he had several children, at St. James Piccadilly 21 Jun 1807. Buried at St. Mary Lambeth 14 May 1837. His son Samuel Ebenezer Carver and grandson Samuel Robert Carver are separately listed below. The National Maritime Museum has an undated drawing by Robert Dighton (see BME 2011) of Samuel Carver, “engraver of charts” — presumably this man rather than his uncle.

Cary Place, Lambeth — 1809
