MITCHELL, Robert Ferguson (fl.1860-1901) — Edinburgh
Map engraver.
Born in Midlothian in or about 1834, and recorded as an apprentice of seventeen in 1851, Mitchell was specifically recorded as a map engraver on census returns. He married Euphemia Henderson at St. Cuthbert, Edinburgh, 22 Dec 1867. In 1871 he was living in Buccleuch Street with his wife, but by 1881 had become a widower, living with a younger sister, Hamilton Mitchell, who was still living with him 1891.
