SMITH, Thomas 4 (fl.1851-1861) — London
Map engraver. Possibly the same man as T. Smith (see BME 2011).
Born in St. Pancras in or about 1824, Smith was specifically recorded as a map engraver on the 1861 census return, then resident with his uncle Thomas Benjamin Harwood (see BME 2011), also a map engraver, as he had been in 1841 and 1851, on the earliest occasion listed as an apprentice. He was possibly the steel engraver of this name and approximate age who was an inmate in Islington Workhouse in 1881 and 1891.
