Francis Carlyle

CARLYLE, Francis (1797-1874) — London

Map engraver.

Born in Edinburgh 24 Jun 1797 and baptised (Francis Carlile) at Canongate 2 Jul 1797, the son of Francis Carlile and his wife Janet Dryden. He was listed as an engraver, later specifically as a map or geographical engraver, on the 1841-1871 census returns, living in London with his wife Mary Ann, originally from Berkshire. He died in the spring of 1874.
