John McKenzie

McKENZIE, John (1822?-1907) — London & Southampton

Map engraver.

Born in Dublin in or about 1822, McKenzie was specifically recorded as a map engraver on the 1861 census, at which time he was resident in London with his wife Ann and four children, the three eldest all born in London, but the youngest born in Ireland in or about 1857. He subsequently worked for the Ordnance Survey in Southampton. He had become a widower by 1891 and was still alive in 1901, still working as a copperplate engraver and living with a grand-daughter in Fulham, where he died in 1907.
