RIGBY, Thomas (fl.1850-1851) — Southampton
Map engraver.
Born in Lancashire in or about 1825, Rigby was working for the Ordnance Survey in Southampton in 1850-1851, in the latter year resident in Alfred Street with his wife Susannah King (b.1828), from Danbury in Essex, whom he had married at All Saints Southampton 18 May 1850. His fellow engravers William White Pybus and Benjamin Redwood (see BME 2011) were living in the same street. He has not been further traced, although his wife was recorded as a widow working as a school-mistress in Bristol in 1861.
