PALMER, Charles Frederick (1838-1919) — London
Map engraver.
Born at St. Pancras in 1838, a son of Richard Palmer 2 (see BME 2011) and his wife Jane Ferguson, who had married in 1823. Younger brother of Richard Harker Palmer. He married Elizabeth Tucker (1838-1921), the daughter of a City draper, with whom he had five children, at St. Mary Islington, 17 Aug 1867. Recorded as a map or geographical engraver throughout his adult life, specialising in hill work. Palmer was still working on his own account in 1911, and living with his wife, two adult children, and a servant. He died 6 Jun 1919 and was buried at Camden the following day. Probate on effects of £447.9s.6d. was granted to his widow 5 Jul 1919.
