BALSTER, Thomas (1752?-1825) — London
Fanmaker and toymaker. Produced The ladies travelling fann of England and Wales exhibiting all the principal roads, rivers, market & post towns; with their distances from London 1788.
Balster married Jane Moore at St. Martin in the Fields 18 Feb 1776. He served as Foreign Warden of the Worshipful Company of Fan Makers in 1785 and again in 1817-1819. He was buried at St. Mary Rotherhithe 15 Dec 1825 at the stated age of seventy-three. An 1808 insurance policy is in the London Metropolitan Archives. His will is in the National Archives (PROB 11/1706/383), granted probate 20 Dec 1825. Two leasehold houses he possessed at Nos. 7 and 8 Bedford Place were auctioned in 1826.
