William Frederick Goldstone

GOLDSTONE, William Frederick (fl.1850-1855) — London

Globemaker.

Born 10 Jun 1826 and baptised 20 Aug 1826 at St. Marylebone London, the son of James Goldstone, a modeller and umbrella-maker, and his wife Harriet Atkins, who married at St. Marylebone in 1824. Recorded as a globemaker at the time of his marriage at St. Andrew Holborn on 24 Mar 1850 to the Scottish-born Christina Merrilees (1824-1874), daughter of a compositor, again on the 1851 census, and also at the baptism of a daughter in 1855. He subsequently emigrated to New York, his family joining him there in 1859. Another daughter was baptised there in 1861, but Goldstone presumably died shortly thereafter as his widow re-married in Jersey City in 1864.
