JOBBINS, Jane (1809-1881) — London
Lithographer. Produced Edward White, Map of Ipswich 1867; maps for Charles Henry Pearson, ‘Historical maps of England during the first thirteen centuries’ 1869. Advertised “Landscape, sale plans, railway plans, and sections lithographed in the best style. Bills of quantities, circular notes, invoices, cards, and every description of commercial and colour printing” (Building News, 2 July 1875).
Born Jane Cheffins 10 Oct 1809, and baptised 31 Dec 1809 at St. Bride Fleet Street. the daughter of Richard Cheffins (1776-1868), manager of the New River Waterworks, and his wife Jane Fuller (1771?-1853), who had married on 1799. The younger sister of Charles Frederick Cheffins (see BME 2011). She married her brother’s future partner, John Richard Jobbins (see BME 2011), at St. James Clerkenwell 10 Oct 1831. She was resident in 1841 with her husband at Warwick Court with two apprentices and a domestic servant. In 1851 and 1861 the household comprised simply herself, her husband and a servant. She continued the business in Warwick Court after her husband’s death in 1866 to at least 1875. She was buried at Brompton Cemetery 19 Feb 1881.
